Creative Voices isn’t for everybody.
Creative Voices was made to be wholeheartedly for a certain type of person. But that also means that it’s unabashedly not for a lot of people. How happy you are with the process and the framework and the results depends a lot on being the right fit.
And I’ve made it my mission to help people who want to run their own shop make the most of what they do different.
That’s why the first thing you see when you land on the website is something about caring about your work. Building a heartfelt brand. The wrong fit will raise their eyebrows and mutter something about no one likes their work.
But the right people? They‘re intrigued. Or maybe they breath a little sigh of relief. Because sure they want to pay their bills, that’s why they’re marketing. But that doesn’t mean they‘re signing up to sleazy, slimy, or salesy.
This entire process is built for those people. And if you’re one of those people, then it was built for you.
I want a world where we can find unique options. A small shop revival. A modern take on the ma and pa shops of yesteryear. (But this time they’ll include ma and ma and pa and pa shops too.) I want cities to be unique. I want to shop knowing that the money spent stays in my community. I want a better experience and more care.
And I’ve made it my mission to help people who want to run their own shop make the most of what they do different.
I want a world where we can find unique options. A small shop revival.
So whether you’re a business, an artist, or an activist — if you’re small, there are a couple key factors that determine whether you stay open and whether you’re fulfilled doing it.
BEAT THE OVERWHELM
Small operations have their own playbook. If you’re trying to keep up with big businesses and big operations, you’re going to be drowning in overwhelm and overlooking what you do best. Being small has disadvantages — you quite literally can’t do it all. So beware people who say more content. What we need is not more, but better. Which is where being small has advantages. Your story, your passions, your insight…that is your superpower. You have something the big guys can’t compete with: you have personality and humanity. Let it shine.
NOT ALL ACTION LEADS TO PROGRESS
This is the second problem that smaller operations have to face. Are you busy but it’s not really leading to the results you planned? Not all action is created equal. That’s where strategy comes in. It’s about knowing what to do and in what order.
GIVE IT TIME
Perhaps this is the hardest to hear. Your time is valuable and your investments are chosen wisely. And so much is marketed as a quick fix. A passive solution. But remember, your personality is the key. Don’t hand it over to automation. Overwhelmed and impatient, people often stop too soon. It’s not that it wasn’t working. It‘s just that it’s taking time. Letting go of a strategy that isn’t serving you is one thing. But doing the work and letting it grow over time is something different. Learn to recognize the difference.
Hopefully this casts some clarity on what you’re facing in your work. Perhaps you’re considering a workshop, but not sure yet. Trust yourself and trust the timing. Creative Voices is not about pressuring you into a purchase. We’ll be here and ready when you are.
